National Scholarship Programmes for Nigeria

National Scholarship Programme The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) is designed to help students with a family income of £25,000 or less. NSP awards are in addition to any other loans or grants you might apply for. All universities and most colleges are taking part in the NSP. Each university or college has its own rules about who qualifies, and what types of awards are available. Awards might include: help with tuition fees help with accommodation a cash bursary of up to £1,000 other help Full-time students If you’re a full-time student the minimum value of the NSP in your first year is £3000. Part-time students If you’re a part-time student you can only get an NSP award to help with tuition fees. The amount you get will depend on the ‘intensity’ of study. For example, if your course is 50 per cent of an equivalent full-time course you’d get 50 per cent of the full-time NSP award. How to apply

Postgraduate and Undergraduate Degree Courses Scholarship

Objective


Study scholarships are awarded to provide foreign graduates from developing or threshold countries of all disciplines with opportunities to complete a postgraduate or Master‘s degree course at a state (public) or state-recognised German higher education institution and to gain a degree in Germany (Master‘s/ Diplom). Exceptions for doctoral studies in order to gain a university degree (PhD) in Germany are possible. Duration Depending on the length of the chosen degree course, the study scholarship will be awarded for between 10 and 24 months.

Value


DAAD will pay a monthly award of 750 euros. As a rule, the scholarship additionally includes certain payments towards health insurance cover in Germany. In addition, the DAAD generally will pay an appropriate flat-rate travel allowance, unless these costs are covered by the home country or by another funding source. Furthermore, the DAAD will pay a study and research allowance and, where appropriate, a rent subsidy and family allowance.

Requirements


Applications for DAAD study scholarships with relevance to developing countries are open to excellently-qualified graduates who hold a Bachelor‘s, Diplom or comparable academic degree. Generally, no more than six years should have passed between the time when they gained their degree and the time of this application. Please note: For some courses with relevance to developing countries there are age limits. Besides previous academic achievements, the most important selection criterion is a convincing presentation of the applicant‘s academic and personal reasons for the planned study project in Germany and the expected profit towards development policy.
Applicants are expected to look upon at least two years of work in their special field and should, if possible, working in a ministery, central department, subdivision, Chamber of Industry and Commerce, a company or firm or in a project for aid towards developing countries. If the degree programme includes a several month long stay abroad, funding for this stay abroad will generally only be considered if it takes place in a developing country and lasts a maximum of 6 months and covers a maximum of 25 per cent of the scholarship term. Good German language skills are generally a requirement for German/English postgraduate studies. Exceptions are possible when scholarship holders are enrolled in degree courses which are instructed in English. The DAAD may fund attendance of an online language course (DUO) in the the scholarship holder‘s country and a German language course at a language school in Germany before the scholarship-supported studies begin. This is free of charge to the scholarship holder.

Do you want to study abroad as an international but you don't have the resources? The DAAD 2013/2014 Scholarship is out. Application deadline: 15 October of the year Submission of application documents to the German Embassy and the German Consulate General in your province. Requirements: BA / B.Sc. 2nd class upper division and MA / M.Sc. For francophone countries: Licence and Maitrise with Assez Bien, also a DEA / DESS degree or a master of the LMD system. The last degree should the time of application returns are generally not more than six years. Applicants who at the time of application staying more than one year (12 months) in Germany, can not be considered. DAAD will pay an appropriate travel allowance after arrival in Germany. The travel expenses have to be financed. Intended field research phases have already to be mentioned with the application. A maximum of two field research phases in your home country (of altogether 12 months) during the entire promotion period possible. There are no research funds are paid (reimbursement must be accompanied by the application). A doctorate is in the home country. Enrolling as a graduate student at the home university must be present. Residence in Germany is 24 months. Applicants from Nigeria no knowledge of the German language can be expected. Please note that the beginning of your grant can only be in April or October.
